Healing through touch
Find balance and relief for your body. Discover the many health benefits of manual lymphatic drainage.
I am a qualified Lymphoedema Therapist on a mission to improve people's quality of life through this powerful therapy.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) provides relief from inflammation, swelling, and discomfort caused by the buildup of excess fluid in the body. MLD treatment aids the body's natural healing processes.
MLD supports your lymphatic system before surgery and helps accelerate recovery by reducing swelling, bruising and healing time.
MLD can provide relief from chronic conditions like Lymphoedema, relief from ongoing pain and discomfort, and relief from tension and stress.
Everyone's road to recovery is unique. I work alongside you and your current healthcare providers to design a personalised treatment plan.
MLD's gentle, rhythmic movements reduce stress hormones while boosting feel-good chemicals like dopamine and serotonin, promoting better sleep and lowering anxiety.
Below is a brief overview of the principal treatments I offer. For a more detailed understanding, please visit my services page.
View All ServicesManual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) targets the lymphatic system using specific pathways to facilitate drainage into an area where the lymphatic system is functioning well. It uses light pressure and rhythmic touch to encourage fluid movement from swollen areas into functioning lymph vessels. MLD can help reduce swelling, improve circulation, and support the body’s immune function. MLD therapy is used to manage a wide range of health issues involving fluid retention, inflammation and immunity.
ViewCDT is a comprehensive treatment approach for managing lymphoedema and related conditions. This evidence-based therapy combines reduction and maintenance techniques, ensuring long-term success in managing your condition.
ViewMedical Lymph Taping involves applying specialised elastic tape to the skin in specific patterns to support lymphatic flow. The tape gently lifts the skin, creating channels that help guide excess fluid toward functioning lymph vessels and nodes.
ViewThe Lymphatic System is found throughout the whole body.
It is a one-way system that works alongside the circulatory system. It collects excess fluid and components that naturally discharge from the fine blood capillaries into the surrounding tissue.
This “tissue fluid” is responsible for the health and well-being of the cells, and any wastes/debris from here are transported away by the lymphatic system to be excreted by the body later.
The lymph system comprises a network of initial lymph vessels designed to absorb excess tissue fluid and direct it back to the circulatory system via increasingly larger vessels, thereby maintaining fluid balance within the body.
This process helps prevent oedema, which is an accumulation of fluid occurring in the tissues.
Lymphoedema is the result of an impaired or failed lymph system. It occurs when the demand for lymphatic drainage exceeds its capacity to transport fluid away from the tissues. It is a chronic and debilitating condition that, if not treated early, progresses to cause significant problems, e.g. skin changes, cellulitis, and changes to the form of the limb.
MLD is particularly effective for conditions involving swelling, inflammation, and pain management, and it supports the body’s natural healing processes.
MLD provides relief for a wide range of conditions across multiple body systems, including:
Your openness in sharing your medical history and current treatments will assist me in providing you with the most effective MLD therapy.
Understanding where you are in your health journey will help me to develop an appropriate treatment plan. I often collaborate with your primary healthcare providers to create a cohesive treatment strategy.
While you don't typically need to fully undress for MLD, you may need to remove some clothing or wear loose-fitting garments. I will need access to the area being treated, so you might be asked to expose that specific body part.
I want you to be relaxed and comfortable during the treatment, so feel free to ask questions or express any concerns.
