Medical Lymphatic Taping

Taping for Lymphatic Drainage

Medical tape possesses unique elastic properties that when applied, creates a space in the epidermis, just under the skin, where the initial lymph vessels are located, facilitating an easier pathway for fluid to drain into the lymphatic network.

This taping method is used in post-surgical orthopedic rehabilitation to treat scars, oedemas, haematomas and lymphoedema, often in areas where compression is difficult to apply, such as the face, neck, and trunk.

Benefits include:

  • Provides continuous lymphatic drainage between MLD sessions
  • Helps maintain the results achieved through MLD treatments
  • Directs lymph flow to functioning lymph nodes
  • Reduces swelling and discomfort
  • It can be beneficial in areas challenging to bandage
  • Allows for everyday movement and daily activities
  • It can be worn during exercise
  • Provides support to soft tissues

Medical tape is hypoallergenic, shower-resistant, and breathable, making it a comfortable addition to your lymphoedema management plan.

This gentle yet effective approach is particularly effective when combined with Manual Lymphatic Drainage and compression therapy.

Note: Lymph Taping is unsuitable for very fragile skin and cannot be used on wounds or areas of the body that are inflamed or infected. On rare occasions, it may cause a skin allergy.
